Meet Becky

Hi, I'm Becky.

I first visited Turkey in the late 1990's but my love affair with the country, the culture and its beauty really began In 2002.  By 2003 I had moved here and have never looked back.

I have been running a small hotel (Kilim Hotel, Dalyan) over here for many years, and thanks to this have made many many friends who now love Turkey as much as I do!

During the Covid 2020 lockdown I turned my energy into thinking how I could bring a slice of Turkey to those friends stuck at home dreaming of their much missed holidays.

My thoughts boiled down to 'Language' and 'Food'. Over the years, many of the lovely guests at our hotel had told me how much they would love to learn to speak Turkish and I was constantly asked to share the recipes of the yummy food that I was creating and serving on a daily basis. 

Indeed many had gone on to purchase recipe books, language apps, DVDs, CDs, even online courses to help them and I had offered the secrets of my recipes to numerous enthusiasts. 

However, we all know how dull learning something solo turns out to be, so most of the Turkish language learning aids had gone unused and without seeing the practicalities of creating these Turkish dishes, many of the shared recipes remained untested at home.

My passion is to help those who want to begin learning the Turkish language and show people how to create Turkish inspired food in a fun and engaging way.  All this whilst in the familiar and comfortable surroundings of home.

I don’t profess to being an expert or a Turkologist, and I'm definitely not a Master Chef, but my 18 years living and embracing Turkish language and culture certainly gives me a great opportunity to share what I have learned so far.

With one to one lessons and group sessions on Zoom, I am excited to bring a little slice of Turkey and sprinkle some of its magic into everyone's home!
